Logik Washing Machine Bearings Gone? Here’s What You Need to Know
Another Logik washing machine on my workbench today, and unfortunately, it’s a familiar story. Noisy spin cycle, excessive vibration, and a drum that doesn’t move as smoothly as it should. It’s a textbook case of failing bearings, and it seems to be happening more often with Logik machines.
How to Tell If Your Washing Machine Bearings Are Gone
If your washing machine has started making a deep, rumbling noise when spinning, there’s a good chance the drum bearings are failing. Here are the signs to look out for:
- Loud, grinding noise: A deep, rough sound when the drum spins, especially on high-speed cycles.
- Excessive vibration: The machine shakes more than usual, sometimes even moving across the floor.
- Drum movement: If you open the door and push the drum up and down, there might be noticeable play (movement), indicating worn bearings.
- Water leaks: Bearings are often protected by a seal, and once that fails, water can leak into the bearings, leading to rust and failure.
Are Washing Machine Bearings Worth Replacing?
Years ago, replacing washing machine bearings was a routine job. But modern machines, including Logik models, often have sealed tubs, meaning the bearings cannot be replaced separately. Instead, the entire tub and drum assembly would need replacing, which often makes the repair more expensive than buying a new machine.
What Can You Do?
If you suspect your washing machine bearings are failing, here’s what I recommend:
- Call me for an inspection: I can confirm whether it’s the bearings or another issue, like a faulty drum spider or motor problem.
- Consider replacement options: If the repair cost is too high, I can advise on reliable washing machine brands that will last longer.
- Don’t ignore the noise: A washing machine with bad bearings will only get worse, and in some cases, the drum can collapse, causing further damage.
